In honour of the momentous occasion that this new chapter represents, we’d like to make a quick note of acknowledgement for our incoming Chairperson Paula Johnson.
Many of us around the county has been fortunate enough to know Paula Johnson and we couldn’t think of a more appropriate person to take the mantle of first lady chairperson.
Having been an ever-present member of St. Kevin’s, Paula has been the definition of a club stalwart. Following in her mother Geraldine’s footsteps, Paula served as Chairperson for St. Kevin’s Camogie whilst mentoring multiple teams and achieving major success with our Féile team winning the Shield Final in 2018.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree for Paula and her immediate and extended family, between her father Pat (a long time Finbarr’s stalwart, R.I.P) and the Crehan’s and the Meehan’s, never mind their extended families in the Carron’s, Lynch’s and Johnson’s. They exemplify the core fundamentals and community standards that the GAA strive to achieve.
Paula’s record does not do justice to the hard work and dedication she has given over the years but here are just a few of the roles she played at club and county level. At County level Paula represented St. Kevin’s with distinction as Vice-Chairperson and registrar and currently is the Cumann na mbunscoil representative.
Paula became the first Health and Well-Being officer for St. Kevin’s, a national initiative where St. Kevin’s was part of the first group of clubs in the country to take part, and alongside Donna Marie Brennan they have introduced many initiatives to the club.
St. Kevin’s Camogie have enjoyed phenomenal success over the past 10 years and it’s clear to see how much Paula and others have invested their time and skills into the emerging sections and we have been fortunate enough to reap the rewards of their work.
By their actions, you shall know them and Paula is no exception, to her unwavering support on the sidelines to our upcoming players, she has provided the girls and ladies in this club a high standard to strive towards. St. Kevin’s GAA couldn’t be passed on to a more sure pair of hands. We wish Paula the very best of luck as we begin the next chapter in St. Kevin’s history. Onwards.
