St. Kevin’s (3-10) Clan a Gael (1-10)
Thomas McNamee’s men have retained their grip on second place in the Division 2 league table, following a decisive home victory over Clan na Gael’s. Whilst the visitors opened proceedings with a quick shot across the bow with a surprising goal and point just a handful of minutes in. The Kevin’s men however ignored the warning and levelled curtesy of a goal from Adam Cromwell and two points from TJ Doheny and Lee Crosbie.
Whilst the wind was friend to no-one in the first half, the Philipstown men bore the brunt of it, however this failed to prevent a impressive free goal from Cameron Maher, and a point from TJ Doheny. The Clan’s were not about to let the Kevin’s run away with the game and kept things level right up to the first half whistle.
Impressive as always, Danny Crosbie was the steadying force and marshalled the defence in front of him and the visitors were unable to get past him, despite multiple attempts. The Kevin’s defence played their part as they restricted the clans to four points for the second half.
With the wind in their favour the Philipstown men took no time to take advantage, half back Karl Martin opened the purple patch with a point, quickly followed by a goal from TJ Doheny, a point from Adam Cromwell and a free from Lee Crosbie. Matching his counterpart Karl Martin on the opposite wing Eoin McKenna acquired a point of his own. From this point onwards the clans remained in the Kevin’s rear view mirror, with the last three remaining points from Tom Matthews, Lee Crosbie and TJ Doheny.
The lads go on to play their Round 11 game at home against neighbouring Hunterstown Rovers, 2nd July at 7:30pm.
