St. Kevin’s ladies picked up their first win of the season when they outclassed Naomh Martin this morning in Philipstown. McNamee’s midfield from the first whistle, dominated every kick out resulting in a huge gap in the scoreboard.

Susan Byrne, Katie Doheny, Mia Duffy, Julie Guinan & Vanessa Brennan covered a serious amount of ground and took every opportunity to move the ball up the field. Sisters Roisin, and Aisling Maguire played their usual conversion strategy and proved to be forces that just couldn’t be reckoned with. Both sisters helping themselves to a hat trick apiece.

A brilliant goal from Lucy Sheridan left the Philipstown side lead 8-10 to 0-1 at the short whistle.  Although there was less work than usual for our defensive lines this match, any time the opponents managed to cross the 45, the Kevin’s backs were quick to rectify the situation and prevented any chance of a conversion. The second half continued much the way of the first as the Philipstown side added another 2 goals and 11 points to their tally, both goals brought by Ella Kearney and Roisin Maguire. Naomh Martin could not find a way through the whole game and landed three points in both halves.

The team go on to the next round against Stabannon Parnells on the 20th of March, currently fixed as a home game at 11:30am.
