The Kevin’s men had their first championship game in Group 2 yesterday in Darver, against Clan Na Gael. Whilst the Clans had a brilliant win last week against the O’Raghallaigh’s the Kevin’s had efficiently planned for their double-score victory.

St. Kevin’s (0-15) Clan na Gaels (0-8)

Karl Martin opened up the scoreboard for the game with a decisive point just moments after the whistle. Quickly followed by a free point from Lee Crosbie, the Philipstown lads quickly set the tone for the game, with a four-point lead before the Dundalk men scored their first point.

Jim Matthews’s fitness conditioning showed in the team as they displayed a great squad performance with efficient passing and well-timed plays. One play in particular impressived the spectating crowds greatly, when the lads retained possession halfway through the second half and assessed the best way to attack after which Dylan Maher scored an impressive point with impeccable timing.
Our defensive lines smothered their opponent’s scoring opportunities to great effect with the Dundalk men failing to convert half as well as last week. Danny Crosbie in goal as always gave an impressive display, and produced a stunning stop through a cluttered goalmouth. He cleared the dangerous attempt into the waiting Dylan Maher during the second half. After which it became clear that the win would be going to the Philipstown men and possession went their way from there on in.

The lads will go on to play against the O’Raghallaigh’s next Saturday the 3rd September at 5:30pm in Stabannon Parnells. Tickets can be purchased online at  https://www.universe.com/users/louth-gaa-8WD7NX
