THREE IN A ROW WIN FOR PHILIPSTOWN MEN

Fulltime Score: St. Kevin’s 0-13 St. Joseph’s 0-7

St. Kevin’s continued their winning streak in the Division 2 League as they travelled to St. Joseph’s Cluskey Park, Dromiskin. The team now sits in 4th place on the league table, just behind leaders, Dundalk Gaels, Dundalk Young Irelands, and the O’Raghallaigh’s. This game saw the welcome return of Seanie Crosbie to the full forward line after his all Ireland Success with the Louth Hurling Team, Lory Meagher Cup Winners. The first fifteen minutes of the game was a slow scoring affair with the scoreboard at 0-2 a piece. However the Philipstown men took advantage of the hosts failure to convert, racking 4 points in a row from Cameron Maher, Paul Duff and Lee Crosbie without any response. This purple patch proved to be the confidence boost the Kevin’s needed to finish out the first half with a 4 point lead. St. Kevin’s (0-7) St. Joseph’s (0-3).

A crucial factor in the Joe’s conversion problem was the steadying force of goalkeeper Danny Crosbie, injected with some great crucial touches from full backs Eoin McKenna and Finbarr Lynch.

The Joe’s came out in the second half determined to fight back the deficit on the scoreboard, with their tactics focused on taking Evan Maher and Lee Crosbie from contention. However, this left room for Patrick Clarke and Seanie Crosbie to make their own marks on the scoreboard with a point a piece.

The Kevin’s clinched their grip on the game ten minutes before the final whistle where Lee Crosbie scored the last three points of the game.

Team List: Danny Crosbie, Dylan Maher, Finbarr Lynch, Eoin McKenna, Karl Martin (0-1), Cameron Maher (0-2), Darren McMullan, Brian Callaghan, Evan Maher, Patrick Clarke (0-1), Lee Crosbie (0-6), Keelan Maher, Paul Duff (0-1), Seanie Crosbie (0-1), Tom Matthews (0-1). Conor Rogers for Keelan Maher.

Thomas McNamee’s side will play their 8th round against the Roche Emmets at home in Philipstown, 11th June at 7:30pm.
