U13 LEAGUE CAMOGIE FINAL

Our U13 Camogie team travelled to St. Fechin’s for their League final last Sunday afternoon and seized the all-important silverware on offer. With a powerful start to the game from both sides, Mattock Rangers gained immediate possession however the 1st score was a point from Aisling Gormally which was quickly followed by an equaliser from Mattock Rangers. Hollie Mc Ardle-Lynch then scored St. Kevin’s first goal which was followed by an Ella Mae Martin goal and 2 points from Tara Reilly. Mattock Rangers then scored a goal leaving it 2-3 st Kevin’s 1-1 Mattock at half time.  Sorcha Magee and Florence Grogan came on just before halftime giving 100% at each move of the ball.

Mattock Rangers came out with strength and determination in the second half taking the first score of a point and then a super goal leaving just 2 points between the teams. Ashling Gormally scored another point from play and the gap was widened by a second goal from Hollie Mc Ardle lynch from a clever cross from Captain Erin Mae McCabe.

Every member of the team played their part in each score with defence clearing the sliothar long and wide creating perfect scoring opportunities for the forwards who battled the mattock Rangers defence lines with grit and determination.

Captain Erin Mae accepted the cup from Team mentor Martha Reilly on behalf of Louth county Board and thanked St. Fechins for supplying the venue, Mattock rangers for a great game, and the mentor’s Ashling and Martha fit their training and support over the year. Erin Mae also thanked the parents and supporters who came out and roared support from the sidelines.

Winning the U13 league now means St. Kevin’s have won the U12, U13, U14, U15, and U16 leagues 2022.  Celebrations took place in Martha’s house with all team members and some parents. Now for a little break before we start training for 2023!
