Our U16 Ladies Football team suffered a tough loss today in Philipstown. Faced against strong competitors in Cooley Kickhams, who scored a goal and a point within 5 minutes. The visitors quickly set the tone for the Philipstown Girls. Although possession remained relatively equal between the two teams, St. Kevin’s unfortunately struggled greatly with finding the back of the net against a strong defensive line. 25 minutes in, it looked like St. Kevin’s might take their usual advantage of half time and come back swinging; however, Cooley quickly sealed the deal and hit an impressive purple patch scoring 4 goals in as many minutes. Unfortunately the Philipstown girls weren’t able to find their stride in the second half after suffering a wide gap in the scoreline.
The team will go on to the next round of the league, currently fixed for the 23rd of March @6:45pm in St. Kevin’s GAA against St. Mochta’s.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Shay & Catriona Sheridan who kindly sponsored much needed footballs for the juvenile ladies section. We wish the ladies football section the very best of luck for the upcoming season.
