The U17 team travelled to the Point Road on Thursday evening to their opponents Sean O’Mahony’s in the 2nd Round of the Championship. Following a comprehensive win, they now go on to the quarter-finals against the Glen Emmets in Cusack Park, Thursday 15th September at 6:15pm.

Goals most certainly won this game as not only did free-taker Robbie Matthews find the net but full forward Jacob Finlay, and half-forward Finn Carter aswell. The Philipstown side saw a solid midfield performance from Joe McArdle, whose strong presence rarely failed to secure a kickout and showcased some impressive decision making moving the ball up the field without delay.
Jacob Finlay the Kevin’s reliable attacking force, repeatedly found space to exploit for himself and on a lot of occasions during this game for Robbie Matthews, both of whom took some brilliant crisp scores.
Their hosts kept the game extremely competitive taking as many scoring opportunities as possible finishing the first half with St. Kevin’s 2-8 and Sean O’Mahony’s 2-4. Robbie Matthew’s second goal, however, just a few short minutes into the second half ensured an inevitable win for St. Kevin’s. With this confidence to their back, the lads were able to broaden their attacking strategy with resulted in aq tidy point from Donnacha Boylan. This half saw the introduction of Luke McArdle Lynch, Conall Mannion, and Zaki Khan, each of whom slotted in seamlessly to their positions.
