St. Kevin’s 0-12 Dreadnots 2-6
Spectators in Philipstown were treated to a great display of skills and a highly contested game between St. Kevin’s and Dreadnots last Friday evening. With possession spread evenly between the two teams for the duration of the game, the only difference was the conversion rate. Whilst the Philipstown men had a considerably better conversion rate, as the adage goes, goals win matches and the Dreadnots two goals clinched the draw for them.

Free-takers on the night, Jacob Finlay, Robbie Matthews, and Ciaran King converted all bar one of their free opportunities.

With the pressure firmly placed on both teams’ midfield players for a significant portion of the game, plenty of crucial work was achieved by our midfield and half-backs to halt their resilient visitors. This was when our spectators were treated to some lovely moments of gameplay.

St. Kevin’s full-back line consisting of John Callaghan, Caoimhín and Oisin Prout, and Donnacha Boylan were well marshalled by goalkeeper Conor Dunne, who successfully managed to thwart some intense attempts for an improved conversion rate for the visitors.

The team will go on to play the 6th round of the league against the Sean O’Mahony’s on the 15th July at 7:00pm.

Team List: Conor Dunne, John Callaghan, Caoimhín Prout, Oisín Prout, Donnacha Boylan, Jack Stokes, Christian Leddy, Niall Gregory (0-1), Robbie Matthews (0-3), Emmett Byrne, Paidí McCabe, Luke McArdle Lynch, Finn Carter, Jacob Finlay (0-5), Ciarán King (0-3), Jack King, Conor Doheny, Conall Mannion.
