U13’S FINISH STRONG CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON AT QUARTER FINALS

Our U13s bowed out of the championship at the q-final stage following defeat to a very strong Sean O’Mahonys side this week at home. After the concession of 4 early goals, which left us with a mountain to climb, the lads never gave up and battled back into the game, in which they competed very well against the bigger and stronger O’Mahonys. Some great performances from all the lads on the night, especially from Charlie Reilly in goals, who pulled off a string of unbelievable saves, and also Karl Curtis at full back who kept the O’Mahonys danger man very quiet.

It has been a very successful campaign which started very well with two big wins against Lannleire and the Geraldines. Our most impressive performance came away against St. Patricks, where we came from 8 points down at half time to win by 2, which resulted in us topping our group.

That second half performance will live long in memory for players and supporters but for probably different reasons. While we all enjoyed the determination and skill on display by all the players, the lads themselves will remember the ice cream stop off on the way home. But it was well deserved as they fought for every ball, and when in possession we had some great passing moves to open up the Pats defence.
