Mens Championship Team 2022

We wish to express our best wishes and congratulations to the mens team and their management this coming Sunday in the Intermediate Final against Cooley Kickhams. The lads have made brilliant strides this season through hard work and dedication and we are all extremely proud to have each and everyone of them representing the club and community. They have made history being a very young team to progress from a Junior Championship final to an Intermediate final in the shortest time span of Louth GAA history and the second team to reach an intermediate final in the club. We’ve put together a small profile on each player below in honour of their achievement! Go n-eirigh an t-adh leat!

MAKING HISTORY: BLISTERING KEVINS MARCH TO FINAL

The Kevin’s mens team travelled to neighbouring club St. Mary’s Ardee to face their intermediate semi final in the hopes for a positive result. Whilst the Kevin’s may have been the slight favourites entering the fray yesterday evening, tensions were high on both sides, both determined to prevent an early lead.

KEVINS MARCH INTO CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI FINAL

The Kevin’s free takers and choice of a kicker from every angle seemed to a major difference. With Lee Crosbie making no mistake from close range dead balls and Cameron Maher pointing from the deck from the side line. DYI struggled in this department, missing 5 ‘scoreable’ frees with 3 different takers in the first half.

MEADE HITS THE NET IN KEVINS VICTORY

Having effectively shut down any scoring opportunities for the entirety of the first half, Danny Crosbie in his usual reliability blocked the only goal attempt by the Drogheda men effectively stamping out any possibility of breathing life into their challenge.

U13’S FINISH STRONG CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON AT QUARTER FINALS

Our U13s bowed out of the championship at the q-final stage following defeat to a very strong Sean O’Mahonys side this week at home. After the concession of 4 early goals, which left us with a mountain to climb, the lads never gave up and battled back into the game, in which they competed very well against the bigger and stronger O’Mahonys.
